Over the last month I viewed a number of great exhibits in Chicago, at the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Chicago Art Institute.
At the Art Institute is the exhibit: Windows on the War Soviet Tass Posters, through Oct. 23, 2011. At the opening they had a performance of wonderful Russian Folk Music, photos below:

At the Museum of Contemporary Art take a look at the Exhibit: Pandora’s Box: Joseph Cornell Unlocks the MCA Collection, through Oct. 16. 2011. This features both Joseph Cornell’s work and artists that were influenced by him, which runs the gamet from paintings to sculpture to an interesting traveling bubble video called The Tenant, 2010 by Rivane Neuenschwander and Cao Guimaraes. Another outstanding exhibit was Mark Bradford, a contemporary artist dealing with racial profiling in his abstract multilayered, richly colored paintings, sculptures and installations. Also very interesting and mysterious at MCA are the Eiko & Koma , Japanese American dance artists. Hope you get to take in some of this rich culture!
