This studio-based class offers time to work on projects of your personal preference with the availability of individualized instruction in areas of technique, color and composition. Group critiques and references to historical and contemporary art will be included. Bring your choice of medium (oil/acrylic, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, and/or pencil) and support to the first class.

Create a series of related artwork using the figure (life model) as a departure point. On the first class, we will discuss ideas for the body of work as a group, and talk about your concepts, compositions and how we will pose the models. Bring drawing material and materials for the medium you will be working in. Each class will begin with warm up poses.

Vibrant Watercolors with Tubes & Pencils   Class ID: 0160

Come join this guild style watercolor class and work independently on your
own paintings while under the guidance of the instructor. You will create vibrant compositions using watercolor tubes and pencils. The instructor will work individually with you on composition, watercolor techniques and the use of transparent verses opaque watercolor.

Plein Air at the Lincoln Park Conservatory

Plein Air Drawing and Painting in the Greenhouse
Start Date: Thursday, January 10, 2013
Thursday 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Ten-week class
Rate: $300
Bring your paints, easel and brushes and Plein Air paint/draw amongst the ferns, orchids and variety of tropical flowers and plants in the greenhouses of the Lincoln Park Conservatory. In this lush venue, we will create finished compositions using your choice of watercolor, oil, acrylic and drawing mediums. Both beginners and seasoned artists are welcome. Beginners will focus on exercises starting with monochromatic paintings/drawings and build up to full-color compositions, while seasoned artists will be given criticism in composition, color, and materials. Each student will receive individual critiques.
