Here’s my story for the “5th Annual Halloweensie Contest.” The contest was created by the extraordinaire author and blogger Susanna Leonard Hill, and is up and running on her site: http://susannahill.blogspot.com . The challenge: to write a 100 word or less Halloweensie story for little kids including some form of these three words costume, dark, and haunt. Take a peak at her site when you can for more stories, you’re sure to find a trick or treat there… Happy Halloween!
Trudy’s Ghost

“It’s getting soooo dark…” said Trudy. “I wanna trick-or-treat, but I can’t till I CLEAN MY ROOOOM!”
“Truuuuudyyy,” said a mysterious voice.
“Huh, who’s that?” said Trudy fumbling over her books.
“Find your costume… NOW!” said the voice.
“I don’t believe in ghosts, I…”
CREEEEK!
“I do,” said Trudy.
“It’s getting creepy in here. Guess I better tidy up…”
“Costume, okay,” said Trudy, pulling on her wings, bat fangs and glittery tights.
Owwooooooooo…
“This house IS Haunted!” cried Trudy.
Whirrrrlllll went the wind.
“Boo!” said a ghost.
“Nana, is that you?”
“Yes! Let’s fly Trudy, grab your pumpkin.”
Congratulations. Be sure to let us know if you are one of the final three so we can vote. Good Luck!
Hi Rhonda, Thanks, we’ll see how the cards fall…
Nice colorful illustration – love the hook to hang the costume later!
Thanks for stopping by Julie! Oh yes the hook, many items could make their way there…
A wee bit scary. Good job!
Thanks Linda! Glad it’s only a wee bit scary since it’s intended for wee little kids…
I like the pumpkin! And (sigh) I should ask my kids to tidy before trick or treating too!
Hi Cathy, Thanks! Ugh cleaning rooms, there are always so many more interesting and creative things that call us…
Very nice. And the illustration is perfect.
Hi Gregory, thanks! I had fun with the illustration!
Love that she has to clean her room before trick-or-treating 🙂 and the illustration is perfect! Thanks so much for joining in the Halloweensie fun, Michelle!
Thanks for stopping by Susanna, and thanks for your great Halloweensie challenge it spurred on another story and illustrations!
