Multicolored Orchids
© 2016 Michelle Kogan

Look upon an orchid
what color lies there…
petals of deepest crimson,
lemon yellow striped with tangerine,
purest white, speckled with pomegranate.

Look upon a person
what color lies there…
heartbeat of deepest crimson,
black, brown tints with cinnamon, ochres,
white tints– cerulean, crimson, umber.

Look upon a person
through the heart of a flower,
what color lies there…
deepest beauty, pure integrity,
equality of humanity.
Poem and painting inspired by The Bard’s Romeo and Juliet.
