Happy Poetry Friday, I’m sharing a bit of summer, with some summer haikus. My painting above is a WIP, waiting to be finished.

  1. Creative work is absolutely a balm for the harried, hurried soul!

I always love your paintings, Michelle, and this time, words of patient lilies, just right! They take their own time budding and then opening. Thanks for the Issa, too; it’s wonderful.

  3. This painting is stunning! Such a burst of summer there. And, the haiku are lovely accompanianists….waiting patiently. Lovely. Thank you.

  4. That Issa poem, so deep. I feel like I’m floating downstream, headed for a waterfall, today! Beautiful haiku and painting, Michelle!

  5. As always, love your creative offerings. Summer is the perfect time to capture such beauty in images and words.

  6. Violet N. says:

Your lilies are beautiful already! Love the haiku about creative processes slowing one down. So true!

  7. Laura Shovan says:

Gorgeous watercolor, Michelle. You’ve got an eye for detail! That Issa poem — so few words to communicate longing.

  8. margaretsmn says:

    Water, brush, paint
    wave over waiting paper
    summer lilies glow

  9. Yes! I love how writing a haiku, or any creative endeavor, causes me to slow down and notice the world more carefully. The waiting lilies are beautiful.

  10. cvarsalona says:

Yes, Michelle, creative work helps me slow down and ignites sparks that bring smiles. I like your bonus haiku! Do you have an image for that one?

  11. Tabatha says:

Reminds me of our recent conversation, Michelle! We are on the same page (or canvas, if you will…).

  12. While your lily waits patiently, I’ll savor its beauty. Your haiku are also lovely, and yes, any creative work is “good for the soul.” Thank you for reminding me.

  13. katswhiskers says:

Beautiful WIP, Michelle. I hope your brush finds a healthy dollop of inspiration.

  14. maryleehahn says:

May we always be singing as our branch floats down the river! Your two haiku prove that you are!!

  15. Donna Smith says:

As your lilies are a WIP, so is summer! Looks like you are getting the best of this season’s creative moments!

  16. Perfectly splendid haikus for the summer season, Michelle! I love that patience in each one. Thank you also for visiting the ridge and leaving such sweet words of sympathy.
