For Poetry Friday, I wrote a little fib in honor of the SCBWI-IL Conference –Prairie Writer’s and Illustrator’s Day that I’m attending tomorrow and been preparing for. It’s a very wee ditty, for my wee time that I had. And here also is my picture book dummy that I was preparing to take with me, the story is called Trudy’s Ghost.

Hope to return to reading all of the rich Poetry Friday posts very soon, I truly enjoy them! Thanks for stopping by last week when Wirey Winney wound through town!
Sending thoughts out to all the for the tragedy we all shared in NYC this week.
The Poetry Friday Roundup is being hosted by the hostess supreme Linda Baie at her blog Teacher Dance Be sure to stop by for a welcome into fall! Thanks Linda for hosting!
I’ve loved every SCBWI conference I have attended. Best of luck to you this weekend.
Thanks Margaret there was much to be taken away from the conference, 3 strong breakouts and more!
Hi Ho, best wishes today for a great time, and with “Trudy”. She looks quite alarmed in that picture, Michelle! It looks like a great Halloween story!
Thanks Linda, she was received well and I’ll send her on to some of the houses!
Enjoy the conference!!
Thanks Jama, much food for thought in all senses!
Have a fun weekend! Good luck with your picture book pitch!
Thanks Mary Lee!
Enjoy the conference! I’m rooting for Trudy!
Thanks Kay, we both appreciate it!
I like your book dummy. I hope you heard lots of great feedback at your conference. Fingers crossed for you and your wonderful art.
Thanks Brenda, I tried to created some paths for my dummy to launch into.
Is it one page or a whole book? I am in awe of book dummies.
Hi Brenda, it’s a whole book, and I’m just about ready to send it out, I want to tighten up the art on two spreads. This is one of two images I finished, though I noticed (after my pc have been printed) that on the color spread hear I spelled “creak” Creek. I think I had it originally Creeak, as I have it in the text but somehow in my haste to get everything off I lost the a. What do you think put it back in or leave as is?
I would fix everything you can. As I understand it, they are looking for reasons to turn people down quickly, and typos bother some people.
Thanks Brenda,I agree, this page is fixed.
I hope it soars into the right agent’s hands. I know Jill Corcoran’s agency is looking for author-illustrators exclusively.
Enjoy your time at the conference, Michelle – and be sure to network, network, network!
Thanks Matt, and I worked at the networking!
Hope you had a great time and good feedback! Love the picture’s shadows and color.
Thanks Donna, yes good feedback and great info for writing, art, and submissions!
