Happy Poetry Friday and National Poetry Month!
The last few weeks they’ve had ranunculus in the grocery store, and I’ve a soft spot for them, which is justified because I can always bring them to my Watercolor classes for my students to paint. Hence my WIP painting and poem.

I didn’t get to post my poem and art yesterday for #NPM as I ran out of energy, and time. I’ve a bit of a bug that’s slowing me down some but my work load is high right now, yikes… One thing I’m preparing for in addition to teaching my new classes that started this week, is a Poetry and Art Workshop that I was asked todo at a nearby Public Library. By the end of next week I should have a bit of breathing room and be able to partake more in the poetry postings for #NPM. Here’s my poem and art from yesterday…
KITTY KITTY WHERE CAN YOU BE…
Kitty Kitty by the tree
Kitty Kitty what do you see…
First you’re there,
then your gone–
Next yard calls.
Kitty Kitty under the shrub
Kitty Kitty makes the shrub rub
flying-up-and-over–
and-down–Gone
Kitty Kitty where can you be…

These are gorgeous! Your poetry and paintings are amazing!
Thanks Linda!
sherbet queen of spring- what a perfect line! As always, lovely poems paired with beautiful art.
Thanks Kimberly, thinking about warm spring days!
I loved that line too, Kimberly! (And the art. So pretty.) Shades of our Savvy in that Kitty Kitty, methinks!
Sorry you’re feeling a little low. As busy as you are, I understand. Hard to keep it all up. I admit I don’t know this flower, Ranunculus. I researched it and can plant it here as an annual. They’re rose-like, but almost with more petals. Lovely, Michelle, as is your art, and the poem, like others, I love that “sherbet queen of spring”. I saw your cat on FB, found only when they want to be!
Thanks Linda! We can only grow them as annuals in Chicago too. Found out at the Doctor I’ve the flue-viral at least. But she said I shouldn’t do my workshop tomorrow cause I’m very contagious. Hopefully we’ll be able to reschedule it.
Oh, I am sorry, Michelle. Feel better soon!
Thanks Linda!
Two things I noticed that were marvelous: sherbet queen of spring brings up such a flavoring of seasonal delight and your cat has a peace sign-too cool! Michelle, I found beautiful prints from the 40s of Ranunculus that my mother saved. My sister framed them so we can savor the gorgeous flowers (like yours) and remember my Mom at the same time. I totally understand about being under the weather-I have my 2nd bout of sinusitis and of course it is a time when I have multiple PD trainings for teachers. Stay well my friend. I look forward to more beautiful illustrations and poetry from you.
Sherbet Queen of Spring! LOVE! Thank you Michelle for this spring beauty. xo
Thanks Irene, xo!
Beautiful paintings and poems, Michelle! LOVE “sherbet queen of spring.” 🙂
I love your paintings and poems. I had to look up ranunculus and now I want to go and purchase some for myself.
Thanks Cherie, they are lovely and you may be taken under their spell…
I love the cat’s groovy jewelry! Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
Amazing beauty in your paintings and poems! Love the “sherbet queen of spring / ring me ‘round your magic /…” Pray you are kicking that bug.
Thanks Alice–trying to slow down which is hard…
Lover the ranunculus. They’re such neat flowers. Hope you feel better. I get the pressed for time
Oh I do hope you are feeling better now, Michelle. I recognized the ranunculus straight away. I’ve always been fascinated by how full and frilly they are. Perfect for painting. Those lovely sherbet colors make my soul smile. Thank you! — Christie
Your spring palette is refreshing and delightful! Wow, you have been doing so much, even with the flu! I hope a day of rest does you a world of good.
Add me to the “sherbet queen of spring” fan club! Hope you’re feeling better soon, Michelle. Sounds like Kitty can fend for himself for a while. 😉
Thanks Michelle! You’re probably right about 🐱 glad I caught a glimpse of his acrobatics though.
Oh I love the unexpected word sherbet in your first poem! Hope you’re feeling better.
Thanks Buffy.
Michelle, I love “sherbet queen of spring” (and everything else here)! 🙂
