Poetry Friday–Dansa Poem Prompt in Blue

Happy Poetry Friday!

I don’t know how it’s the 4th week in October, but here we are…
We in the U.S. have an Election coming up, and I’m pouring out
B-L-U-E from everywhere. Including the poem prompt from the Poetry Sisters this month, which involved writing a Dansa poem. Sending thanks to all the sisters– Laura, Tanita, Mary Lee, Liz, Kelly, Tricia, Sara, and Andi–for the form fits fine with my wave of B-L-U-E! You can find more of these poems tagged with #PoetryPals.

Jone Rush MacCulloch at her blog of the same name is our host for this week’s Poetry Friday Roundup, thanks Jone, be sure to stop by!

That last stanza sounds like a song. I’m afraid my blue wind is blowing against lots of red flags. I feel defeated before I even start. But I will keep blowing.

  2. lindabaie says:

“Hope dangles by her string” and it is continuing! I am both hopeful and nervous, Michelle and yes, I’ve voted! I love the Marley piece and his wonderful picture! #crossingfingersandtoes Thanks for the shouting!

  3. Bridget Magee says:

I’m a ‘fan’ of the blue wind! Lovely Dansa, Michelle. My vote has already been blown back to the US to help to hold off a red wave.

  4. janicescully says:

I love hearing that blue winds are blowing! Such a lovely shade of blue in your picture! Let’s see what the next few weeks bring. I’m voting early tomorrow and hope for the best.

  5. tee+d says:

“Open doors, windows, hearts, any inner wellspring” – is such a GORGEOUS rallying cry. I’ve already voted, thank you for strongly reminding us all.

  6. jama says:

Here’s to a BIG BLUE WIND that blows the red away. Thanks for keeping up the rallying cry!!

  7. Tricia Stohr-Hunt says:

I love this, particularly the last stanza. Your poem gives me hope.

  8. cvarsalona says:

Michelle, I am with Tanita on the following line: ““Open doors, windows, hearts, any inner wellspring.” Blue winds have started to blow but we did not have a chance to vote today. It will be soon though. Thanks for your rally cry, song, and image.

  9. hi michele! your artwork is poster-worthy at all Democratic HQ & beyond. Offer it? I sent my BlueVotes in the general & a couple weeks back in the local runoff by US Post. I luv the mail-in options we have today in the USA. Thank you for your dansa poem of encouragement. You & your poetry sisters are teaching me new forms 🙂

  10. “how hard our heart aches to unharness this woe”–What a great line, and one that gets me in the gut, Michelle. I’m dreading the elections and have never felt more like an outsider in my own country :>(

  11. “…rejoice unsung voices…” — such an anthem, Michelle – THANK YOU! I need words like this to keep my blue hope alive!

  12. jone says:

I love the refrain and your art work is important and powerful. Yes, we must vote blue.

  13. Karen Edmisten says:

Yes, may doors, windows, and hearts, be open! I cast my (mail-in) vote this week. My household is a tiny wave of blue in a state that’s an ocean of red, but still, we beat on, boats against the current….

  14. Keep beating on little but mighty blue wave!

  15. maryleehahn says:

Amen amen AMEN! (Wait ’til you see my mandala for this week!)
